Unknown gunmen on Thursday in separate attacks reportedly killed at least seven people in some communities in Wukari and Gassol local government areas of Taraba State.
Saturday PUNCH gathered that a family of five was killed on their farm in Jandeikyula village and a man was shot and killed in his house in Anyam Kwever in Wukari LGA.
In Dan-Anacha town, Gassol LGA, it was gathered that one person was shot and killed in his house, while four others were seriously wounded when armed men attacked Nangulu village.
Chairman, Wukari LGA, Daniel Adi, who confirmed the killing of five persons in his area, condemned the attack while also calling for calm.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, David Misal, said he had yet to be briefed on the development by the divisional police officers in the affected local government areas.
Two brothers injured in the attack at Nangulu village, Mr.Clement and Augustine Mnyim, told our correspondent at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, that armed men stormed their houses at night.
“We have been receiving threats of attacks from Fulani herdsmen since the law banning open grazing was enacted in the state.
Augustine said the government must take proactive steps to stop the attacks silently going on in the villages or else, farmers would not go to farm this coming season.
